Ancestry

Henry Miller of Windham, Connecticut (Now Granby) was the first ancestor of our Miller line of whom we have any record.  He was born in 1774.  He died Nov. 24, 1801 at Lexington, Greene County, New York.  He served as a Colonel in the Revolutionary War.

Henry Miller married Elizabeth Gardner who was born Dec. 21, 1750.  She was of Irish descent.

James Gardner Miller, born March 15, 1771 at Lexington, New York, was one of nine children born to Henry and Elizabeth Gardner Miller.

James Gardner Miller married Ruth Arnold Oct. 27, 1798.  She was born in 1769 at Norwich, Chenango Co., New York.  She died Sept. 6, 1816, leaving seven children between four and sixteen years of age.  Her husband never remarried.

Ruth Arnold was a descendant of Thomas Arnold who came to America in 1635.  Many of the Arnold men fought in the Revolution.

James Gardner Miller lived most of his later years with his son, Daniel Arnold, where he helped with light work in the garden and on the farm.  He died August 27, 1845.

Daniel Arnold Miller was one of seven children born to James Gardner and Ruth Arnold Miller.  He was born Aug. 11, 1809 in Lexington, Greene County, New York.  He died Dec. 4, 1881 at Providence, Utah.  (The first paragraph of "Sketch of Daniel Arnold Miller" states Farmington as place of death.  Providence, Utah is correct.)

Jacob Miller was one of six children born to Daniel Arnold and Clarissa Pond Miller.  He was born Dec. 9, 1835 near Quincy, Illinois.  He died Oct. 11, 1911 at Farmington, Utah.
